Morning Time Plans for Cycle 1

Morning time is simply a daily practice in a homeschool family whereby all the children come together with the parent to focus on the subjects that the family can do together in the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness. Too often our school day is dominated by the ‘skill subjects’ of language and math which can leave little time for the liberal arts of poetry, literature, art appreciation, handicrafts, dialectic discussion, and Scripture study.  This can leave both the parent and child with a lack of enthusiasm for the beauty and natural curiosity of learning and discovery.  Morning time allows a family to nourish their souls together and build relationship in a conversational setting by prioritizing noble ideas. This eBook contains the plans for all 24 weeks of Cycle 1 Classical Conversations. But even if you don’t use Classical Conversations curriculum, 98% of this download will still be useful to you!

This is an 84 page download that includes:

  • Read Aloud Schedule
  • Narration and Question Asking Guide for Moms and Dads
  • Poetry and Shakespeare Plan
  • Cycle 1 Picture Study Plan with Copies of Artist’s Prints
  • Morning Time Prayer Guide and Psalms Cards

Our family has been using a version of Morning Time for many years now and I have complied the resources in this eBook to help you have a peaceful and successful homeschool year of discipleship with your children.  As a firm believer in the principle ‘Multum non Multa’ meaning much not many or less is more, I have intentionally made these plans very attainable for the average family.  It is all too easy to start out the school year with no vision for how you will breathe life into the material you study and in doing so, set yourself up for a disappointing experience.  Use our Morning Time plans and you will be off and running towards a peaceful and rewarding school year!

21 Days of Gratitude

For a believer, gratitude is the secret and essential ingredient for a life filled with joy.  God’s Word teaches so much about the benefits of gratitude and commands us countless times to give thanks.  Thanksgiving transforms anxiety into peace, it energizes us in the midst of a trial, grants hope for tomorrow and strengthens our witness to unbelievers.  Unfortunately, the practice of gratitude does not come naturally, especially to children.  In this study, your child will embark on a journey of thankfulness by taking the gratitude challenge.  They will search the scriptures for all it has to say about gratitude.  They will keep an ongoing list of thanksgivings and write letters to loved ones expressing their gratitude.  They will be given a ‘Put it into Practice’ assignment each day to help them be a doer of God’s Word.  This study can be used independently for older children or is a great study to be completed with a parent for littler ones.

Our Proverbs Pack Bible Study contains two separate studies on the book of Proverbs for a total of over 60 days of Bible studies for your child.  For the first 31 days your child will be doing a survey of the book of Proverbs and will write a report for each day’s readings.   In the second study, your child will look at ten positive characteristics and ten negative characteristics.  You will need a basic dictionary to complete this study. Each day your child will read two proverbs found on your Proverbs Reading Checklist and will have to determine what character trait they are speaking to by drawing a line from that day’s reading to the matching verse.  They will then complete their Bible study page in their notebook by answering questions regarding those character traits in their own life.  This is an excellent study pack to get your child into the book of Proverbs! The Book of James has been referred to as the ‘Proverbs of the New Testament’ because it contains so many practical lessons for the believer.  In this study your child will read James many times through to gain as much wisdom as possible.  There are twenty lessons in this study to help them grow in faith and wisdom.   Each day your child will read one whole chapter and then write out what was gained from that day’s lesson by answering questions and writing out responsive prayers.  Sometimes they will be reading the same chapter for a few days in a row.  Reading portions of God’s Word over and over can be a good way to truly gain an understanding of what God is trying to tell us.
